At dawn I remember Lalita's lotus face.
With bimba-fruit lips and a nose adorned with a large pearl.
With eyes long as the ear and rich with jewelled earrings.
With a gentle smile and a forehead bright with musk.

Morning remembrance of the Goddess turns the mind from sleep's darkness toward the luminous face of consciousness itself. The beauty described is not mere ornament but the radiance of the Self shining through devotion.

At dawn I worship Lalita's arms, wish-granting creepers.
Rich with finger-tips like tender shoots adorned with jewelled rings.
Shining with ruby and gold bracelets and armlets.
Bearing in her hands the pundra, sugarcane bow, flower arrows, and goad.

The arms that grant every wish symbolize Shakti, the active power through which the formless Self manifests. Worship of her hands is worship of the creative energy that shapes the world yet remains rooted in the one reality.

At dawn I bow to Lalita's lotus feet.
Ever granting devotees their desires, a boat across the ocean of becoming.
Worshipped by Brahma on his lotus seat and other lords of the gods.
Marked with lotus, goad, banner, and mirror as her emblems.

The lotus feet that ferry one across samsara are the ground of being itself, untouched by the waves of birth and death. To bow at dawn is to anchor awareness in that unchanging support beneath all change.

At dawn I praise Lalita Bhavani, the supreme Shakti beyond Shiva.
Whose glory is known through Vedanta, flawless in compassion.
Who is the cause of the world's creation, dissolution, and preservation.
Sovereign of the universe, far beyond Vedic word and mind.

She who is cause of creation yet beyond speech and thought is Maya-Shakti and also the supreme Brahman as the power of consciousness. Praise at dawn affirms that the world's ground is not other than the Self that knows it.

At dawn I utter your sacred names, O Lalita.
"Kameshvari," "Kamala," "Maheshvari."
"Shri Shambhavi," "Mother of the worlds," "Supreme One."
"Goddess of speech," and "Tripureshvari," with my voice.

Each sacred name is a doorway into the one reality that speech cannot finally capture. Uttering them at dawn purifies the mind so that names and the named dissolve into the silence of non-dual awareness.
