भज गोविन्दम्

सुखतः क्रियते कामाभोगः पश्चादन्त शरीरे रोगः । यद्यपि लोके मरणं शरणं तदपि न मुञ्चति पापाचरणम् ॥२८॥

- सुखतः क्रियते कामाभोगः
- Pleasures are pursued for easy enjoyment;
- पश्चादन्त शरीरे रोगः ।
- afterwards disease afflicts the body.
- यद्यपि लोके मरणं शरणं
- Though death is the refuge in this world,
- तदपि न मुञ्चति पापाचरणम् ॥२८॥
- one still does not abandon sinful conduct.
The immediate pleasure of indulgence is contrasted with its bodily and ethical consequences. Knowing death is certain yet persisting in sin reveals the depth of delusion only knowledge can cure.
