Word breakdown

सदा बालरूपाऽपि विघ्नाद्रिहन्त्री
Always childlike in form yet destroyer of the obstacle-mountain,
महादन्तिवक्त्राऽपि पञ्चास्यमान्या ।
with great elephant face yet honoured as five-faced,
विधीन्द्रादिमृग्या गणेशाभिधा मे
sought by Brahma, Indra, and others, called Ganesha by me -
विधत्तां श्रियं काऽपि कल्याणमूर्तिः
may that auspicious gracious form grant me prosperity.

Ganesha, though childlike in form, is sought by Brahma and Indra; may that auspicious Lord grant blessing. The hymn opens with the remover of obstacles before praise of Skanda, clearing the path for devotion.
