मत्तो मारो यस्य ललाटाक्षिभवाग्नि- स्फूर्जत्कीलप्रोषितभस्मीकृतदेहः । तद्भस्मासीद्यस्य सुजातः पटवास- स्तं प्रत्यञ्चं दक्षिणवक्त्रं कलयामि ॥१४॥

- मत्तो मारो यस्य ललाटाक्षिभवाग्नि-
- Kāma, maddened, from whose brow-eye fire
- स्फूर्जत्कीलप्रोषितभस्मीकृतदेहः ।
- with a blazing bolt was driven away, body reduced to ash
- तद्भस्मासीद्यस्य सुजातः पटवास-
- whose sacred ash became the fine garment of the well-born
- स्तं प्रत्यञ्चं दक्षिणवक्त्रं कलयामि
- him, the inner one, the south-facing, I meditate upon
Kāma was reduced to ash by the fire of his brow; devotees wear that sacred ash. Desire burned in the fire of knowledge leaves only the purity of the Self.
