दरिद्रोऽस्म्यभद्रोऽस्मि भग्नोऽस्मि दूये विष्ण्णोऽस्मि सन्नोऽस्मि खिन्नोऽस्मि चाहम् भवान्प्राणिनामन्तरात्मासि शम्भो ममाधिं न वेत्सि प्रभो रक्ष मां त्वम् ॥१६॥

- I am poor, I am unlucky, I am broken, I burn with grief;
- विष्ण्णोऽस्मि सन्नोऽस्मि खिन्नोऽस्मि चाहम्
- I am dejected, I am low, I am distressed - such am I.
- भवान्प्राणिनामन्तरात्मासि शम्भो
- You are the inner Self of all creatures, Shambhu;
- ममाधिं न वेत्सि प्रभो रक्ष मां त्वम्
- you do not know my sorrow; O Lord, protect me.
The devotee confesses total destitution while affirming that Shiva is the antaratma of all. The Lord who dwells within must know and rescue the soul that has nowhere else to turn.
