Word breakdown
- यदा दुर्निवारव्यथोऽहं शयानो
- When I lie down with unbearable pain,
- लुठन्निःश्वसन्निःसृताव्यक्तवाणिः
- rolling, gasping, with speech gone and unclear,
- तदा जह्नुकन्याजलालङ्कृतं ते
- then may your matted-lock circle adorned with Jahnavi's water
- जटामण्डलं मन्मनोमन्दिरं स्यात्
- be the temple of my mind.
In the agony of dying, when speech fails and the body writhes, the devotee asks that Shiva's Ganga-adorned locks become the inner sanctuary. The Lord's form replaces the dissolving body as the mind's refuge.
