Gauri Dashakam is a ten-verse hymn to Goddess Gauri, the fair, lotus-eyed form of the Divine Mother, traditionally attributed to Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Each verse closes with the refrain *gaurīm ambām amburuhākṣīm aham īḍe* ("I praise Mother Gauri of lotus eyes"), weaving a portrait of Shakti as both cosmic queen and intimate presence in meditation.
The hymn ranges from world-creation and dissolution to the subtle yogic body, the companionship of Shiva, and the thread on which all beings are strung. Its Advaita-friendly tone does not reduce Gauri to a distant image: she is truth, knowledge, and bliss (*satyam jñānam ānandamayī*) discovered in disciplined inwardness.
