About this stotra
Kashi Panchakam is a short Vedantic hymn attributed to Sri Adi Shankaracharya. In five verses the Acharya identifies the holy city not merely with a place on the Ganga but with one's own consciousness (*nijabodharūpā*).
Manikarnika becomes supreme peace, Ganga becomes the flow of knowledge, and the body becomes Kashi kshetra. The hymn culminates in the insight that when the inner Self abides in the body, no other tirtha is needed.
