About this stotra
Jagannathashtakam is traditionally attributed to Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The hymn moves from Krishna's Vrindavan pastimes to the Lord enthroned at Nilachala with Balabhadra and Subhadra, adored by gods and Vedas alike.
Each verse closes with *jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayanapathagāmī bhavatu me*: may Jagannatha, my Lord, come before my eyes. The final verses turn from royal boons to the single wish for the Lord who removes samsara and sin.
